Rosy Foamflower


Walking along Bog Meadow Trail today, I noticed the little trailside stream was adorned with all these pretty pink leaves. They're the leftover leaves from last summer's Foamflower, and the last time I saw them they were still a bright green under January's snow. How remarkable: leaves that turn red in the spring instead of the fall! Soon they will fade and disappear to make room for new plants that will bloom in early May. Then they will look like this:
