Now that I'm starting my 13th year blogging about the flora and fauna that surround me here in northeastern NY, I wonder if I've said all I can say about it -- until some new surprise pops up! And something new does, every year. So I'll keep at it for a while yet, even if a bit less often. Regarding the Tulip Tree, yes,I did know it was related to magnolias, so I was remiss not to mention it. We here in Saratoga are a tad beyond its more southerly range, but I have found 3 locally, so it IS here. Just not abundant. A gorgeous tree! Now I look forward to finding some Cucumber Magnolias in bloom next spring.Jacqueline Donnellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13390548854179921303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2662118368553266438.post-52627036138197544222021-01-14T17:30:51.511-05:002021-01-14T17:30:51.511-05:00Don't stop posting your new plants for the yea...Don't stop posting your new plants for the year --please. i always enjoy your blog posts, so I want you to keep going -- I'm sure others do as well. If you have tulip-poplar in your area you actually have two resident magnolias. We have both tulip=poplar and cucumbertree; tulip-poplar is abundant on rich sites but cucumbertree is quite uncommon with scattered individuals (also on rich sites) but it's also missing on many seemingly suitable sites. The heavy red seeds don't travel far from the parent tree so there's probably a larger tree near your finds. Woody Meristemhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17042498252608254901noreply@blogger.com
