Cohoes Falls, 9/8/11

The Mohawk River roars over the falls at Cohoes, New York.  September 8, 2011

For comparison, here's a photo of the falls taken last March, when the river was full from spring snowmelt, but certainly not as full as it was when the above photo was taken.

That is one amazing photograph. Thanks to you I now have a kayak, AND a new camera on my wish list!

Holy crow! As soon as I saw the title, I knew that I was going to see something spectacular, thanks to Irene and Lee. I wasn't wrong.

...and human beings think we rule the universe ... wishing safety to all in the water's path.

Aren't the falls usually a bit taller?

Thanks for your comments, friends. Regarding Ellen's question about the height of the falls, well, the river is so full of water it has nearly swamped the falls themselves. Maybe I should add a photo of their normal appearance for comparison.
